The decision to build a class 91 was a strange one, but I attribute this to living overlooking the ECML at Knebworth, and from visiting Bounds Green depot just after the delivery of the first three locomotives.
91010 is based on the rough shape seen at the very end of the Equinox program that detailed the future of modern traction - only my version arrived before BR's hit the rails !

Using the Lima 87 as a starting platform (literally!), the 91 took shape.
The only 87 parts remaining are the whole un-modified chassis and the roof area - the remainder is made of plasticard bonded to the roof section with side grilles from a Hornby 86 bodyshell.
The no. 1 end slope is a little too shallow, and the glazing never seems to stay put after many attempts to fix it firmly.
2mm diameter holes have been drilled for the fitting of LED's but these are still awaiting fitting.

The no. 2 end is much better - the glazing stays in for longer !
Also drilled with LED holes, these still awaiting fitting so I am consistent. 91010 does have hand-rails fitted made from chrome-plated shirt-pins, so all those shirts received at Xmas have a secondary use as well as wearing the shirt !
The traction department is assisted by some extra weight, and additional pick-ups have been fitted to improve on current collection.
This locomotive is unique in my electrics as the pantograph is wired up on this one !
