D5031

D5031 is one of my first efforts at butchery and has been modified from Hornby's class 25.
The start point was to fill the headcode boxes from the inside with car body filler, and then to sand them off. I should have fitted flush-fitting cab-doors too, but lazyness caught up with me on this one.

Another failing was to omit the headcode discs and to relocate the red tail-lights, but I'm sure it will happen one day along with wire hand-rails.

This is my current record holder for traction weight, tipping the scales at 500g on the rails - progress is slow and acceleration is almost unforgettable, but this is with a standard mechanism so I don't expect track-scorching performance !
