Scam Warnings
Our customers are very important to us, so we have included here some warnings on buying scooters and vehicles over the internet.
1. Firstly ensure that whoever you are buying the vehicle from is a genuine company. There are many people on the internet selling privately through EBay etc, and we have heard of many people paying for a single scooter advertised by one individual, and the scooter didn't even exist.
2. Ensure that you are buying what you want. Do not be fooled into buying a worn out, damaged scooter even if it is cheap. Your safety is at stake, or that of whoever is going to be using the scooter, so ensure that you ate buying a new, or good condition used scooter or vehicle. In general, buying a new scooter with spares is better value than buying a second hand scooter that needs repairing straight away. We are always receiving email from people that bought second hand scooters, looking for spare parts soon after buying them from other sellers.
3. Ensure that you get a warranty. Many online sellers do not offer warranties, or even spares, so if your scooter doesn't work when you receive it, you will have no chance of getting repairs done or spares from the seller. Some suppliers say that you get spares, but they do not give them with the scooter.
4. If you do buy from a private individual rather than from a company, through ads in shop windows, classifieds etc, please ensure that you are not buying stolen property. If possible. ask the seller to show you the receipt of when they purchased it, or if the item has a stamp or ID no. engraved, ensure you keep the sellers name and address incase of the item being stolen property.
5. When it comes to paying for your scooter or vehicle, you should use a recognised money transfer service, such as Western Union, as you will be given a receipt of the amount paid and who it was paid to. This will help in the event of the seller disappearing with your payment and not sending the goods to you, as you will have the official record of the payment you made. If you are going to pay by credit card, ensure the internet vendor is using a secure server.
6. If you advertise on message boards that you wish to buy scooters, you will probably receive email from people that do not even own scooters trying to sell you an item that they do not have. They will insist that the scooter is good quality, and that if you send them money they will deliver the scooter straight away. They will continue to email you, until you agree and send the payment. You will never hear from them again, but also, you will never get what you paid for.
