Julia and Leslie (my grandparents) lived in Balclutha. Leslie a Tailor worked for his brother Charles. They moved to Waipiata when their daughter Mavis developed a spot on her lung. The sanatorium was at Waipiata. Later they moved to Owaka where Leslie went into partnership with his brother Charles. The business went bankrupt. In the 1940's they moved to Dunedin where Leslie worked as a Tailor for Riddells (Stewart St) and Julia a tailoress for Harry Deil (Moray Place). During the war Leslie was manpowered to Hudsons where his daughter Mavis also worked. They moved back to Owaka for a few years before finally settling in Outram about 1956.
