Introduction
Grown as a tuber for human consumption, Surplus or downgraded potatoes are dried for export. Usually included in coarse feeds
Origin
Tropical/temperate countries eg. China.
Nutritional Information
High in energy but low in protein. Low in oil (which is relatively unsaturated). Good source of starch and foods like normal potatoes.
Colour/Texture
Grey/white, usually in the form of chips and slices.
Palatability
Good.
Limits on Usage
Usually no major anti-nutritive factors, although there have been reports of possible trypsin inhibitors being present. Moulds can grow if stored for long periods or if moisture level is high. Avoid high inclusion rates in ruminants or acidosis will result.
