Challenger Series
The Challenger Series has been specifically written to aid the musical development of small
and young bands. Each piece has been attractively written to engage players and listeners alike.
Conceived in 5 basic parts (with optional Drum-Kit and Percussion) each piece is playable with
quintet or full brass band, arranged to sound full regardless of instrumentation limitations.
In addition to making an interesting and unusual programme selection, the design of these
arrangements with their mixture of elements from traditional and contemporary music make them
an ideal teaching aid. Every effort has been made to keep these pieces free from complicated
rhythms and phrases. Where they do appear, an alternative has been provided.
Provision is made within the copyright agreement for the purchasing institution to photocopy
additional parts for rehearsal purposes only.

Explanation of Levels
Level 1 ...Simple time, basic rhythms, up to 1 flat/sharp
Level 2 ...Some quaver movement, wider range of notes, more frequent accidentals
Level 3 ...Compound time, faster tempo, more advanced harmonically.
Level 4 ...Advanced, extended compositions over a wide range, technically demanding.
Contents
Included in each set is a full score and two copies of each individual part. Each is clearly laid-out on an A4 sheet with large print dynamic markings and rehearsal letters and bar numbers at 5 bar intervals for ease of reading and rehearsal. Alternative parts in C, F and Bass Clef are available on request.
