Landscapes are my primary subject matter, preferably with hills and water. Numerous trips in the Scottish Highlands were followed in 1986 by a first trip to Slovenia, which I've returned to many times, and later came Austria, Croatia, Bulgaria, and most recently Switzerland. Involvement with musicians and theatre also gave some brief opportunities for taking indoor shots of performances, which I'd love to do more of if only time allowed.

Technical notes.
I started taking pictures properly in the early 80's using a Yashica FX-D SLR, which I still have and use for B&W work. Later on it was joined by the excellent Contax 159MM which has taken most of the more recent work. I have no use for autofocus and would never consider using it unless I was working in sports photography. Lenses used are a 28mm Zeiss, 35-105mm Yashica, and a 80-200mm Tokina. I also have a Mamiya 645 Super, though it doesn't see as much use as I'd hoped. A recent addition is a digital camera - a small Kyocera S3L 3.2 Megapixel which is great for those circumstances where the SLR gear is too difficult to carry. Stability of the SLRs is much improved by use of a monopod as I find tripods too awkward for most circumstances unless I'm on my own and doing a specific phototrip rather than a general hill-walking one.
