Midland District Championships

Sarah, Beth, Hannah Sands and Louis represented the club at the Midland District Championships at Coventry over two weeks in July.

All the swimmers were competing against the best from 15 counties, including many national standard swimmers from Worcestershire-Suffolk.

Week 1

Sarah
was in unbelievable form in the 10 Year 200m Breaststroke as she swam away from a high-class field to win by 4 seconds.
Sarah
picked up the club's first Midlands GOLD MEDAL for over a decade with a swim of outstanding quality as she shaved 11 seconds off her PB, finishing just 0.5 seconds outside the 11 Year National Time.

Beth
swam in the 13 Year 100m Freestyle, looking to break her 1.06.30 PB. After swimming a fast first 50m, she finished over a second outside her PB.

Week 2

Sarah
just missed out on the medals in finishing 4th in the 50m Breast, and followed that up by placing 8th in the 50m Free in a new Personal Best.

Hannah
exceeded all expectations to make light of her starting position to finish 15th out of the 46 starters in the 10 Yr 50m Free. Hannah's swim was a fantastic new PB.

Louis swam a second outside hisPersonal Best in the 50m Back but still picked up a tremendous 8th place In the 10 Year Age Group.

Beth
swam 0.4 seconds outside her 50m Free PB in finishing 54th out of 80 starters.

Lichfield Gala 13th July 2002

We swam at Lichfield in the annual 3 Team gala and produced a good performance to finish in 2nd place. 5 disqualification's lost us valuable points, but Lichfield were worthy winners on the night.

We recorded 30 wins, 39 Personal Bests and 13 Club Records, with all the squad swimming superbly.

Beth had triple success in the Free, Fly and Back, beating her 14-Year-old opponents for good measure.

Double wins went to Matt in the Breast and Fly (in a new PB), Lisa in the 12 Yr. Fly (in a new PB) and Back, James in the 9 Year Free and Breast, Nicola Edwards in the 14 Year and 16 Year Breast and Louis in the 11 Year Back and Free.

Other brilliant wins went to Freestylers Lotty (10 Yr), Hannah Sands (11 Yr), Emmy (16 Year) and Mark (Open Men), with Backstrokers Joseph (9 Year), Jenny (10 Year) and Kathryn (11 Yr) showing their opponents a clean pair of heels.

In the Fly, Peter (11 Yr), Hannah Shortland (11 Yr) and Chris (12 Yr) all had super wins, with Breaststrokers Emma (9 Yr), Matthew (11 Yr), and Tom (12 Yr) completing the list of individual winners.

James was in scintillating form as he re-wrote the 9 Year record book by breaking the 25m Free (sub 16 seconds), 25m Breast and 50m Free club records in breathtaking style. James's 50m free time was a second inside the 10-YEAR MIDLAND DISTRICT TIME!

Beth
took the 13 Yr Fly and Back Club Records, with Emma Moreton emulating her older team mate by setting new marks for the 9 Yr Breast and Free.

Other new records went to Chris (12 Yr Fly), Louis (11 Yr Fly), Mathew (15 Yr Fly), Matthew Keight (11 Yr Breast), Tom (12 Yr Breast) and Emmy (Open Breast).

New Personal Bests
went to Louise (Free & Fly), Hannah Shortland (Fly & Breast), David Woods (Breast & Back), Lotty (Free), Hannah Sands (Free), Mathew Munday (Free), Louie (Fly), Molly (Fly), Peter (Fly), Matt (Fly), Annabelle (Breast), Tom (Breast) and Jessica (Breast).

In the relays the Open Mixed team won both their relays, with Matt, Mark, Ashley, Glen, Emmy and Kelly being the "Stupendous Six", with the mixed 10 Year team of Andrew, Jonathan, Lizzy and Mia being too good for their opposition.
The Mixed Cannon Team of James, Verity, Brandon, Hannah Sands, Chris Keight, Stacey, Mathew Munday and Louise swam to a cracking win, with Verity and Louise swimming hugely impressive splits.
Well done to Laura Cross, Erin, Chris Keight, Katy, Stephen, Mia and Sophie, who all swam superbly in this high class "A" Team gala

Thanks to all parents/coaches who took part!!
