Sunday 31st May 2002 at Wyndley Leisure Centre

 

v Aston

 

The Boldmere Orcas Water Polo returned to action at the weekend, entertaining local rivals Aston in a vital midland league fixture at Wyndley. The game opened with Aston taking an early scoring with just 49 seconds on the clock. However the Orcas' bolstered by the return from university of Mark Spiers and Marcus Hook hit back to finnish the quarter 3-2 ahead. Despite some strong play and fine shooting from veteran Geoff Ward the Boldmere lads took control of the game to lead 10-4 at the half way stage. Former Perry Beeches star swimmer Ben Jackson had his best game for the club scoring 3 goals to bring the final score to 18-7. Boldmere scorers Andy McCormick-1, Ben Jackson-3 , Martin West -2, Richard Baker-4,Piers Burford-3 Jeremy Kieghts-1 and Mark Spiers-1

Next weekend Boldmere entertain Solihull Youth at 6.30pmm on Saturday 6th July this is followed by the final of the Midland League Knock between Oxford and Solihull. On Sunday the junior team play HGSOB in the final junior fixture of the season.

 

 

 

Sunday 20th May 2002 at Wyndley Leisure Centre

 

v Warley

On Sunday the Under13s entertained Warley in a highly charged game at Wyndley, eventually coming out winners by 18-10. Karen Wigley and Kathryn Fowler made a strong impression with their workrate, ably assisted by Sam Whelan. Chris Kieghts and Matthew Kieghts turned in good performances. goal scorers for Boldmere Matthew Foulds-8 Toby Hook-3 Sam Whelan-3 Kathryn Fowler-1 Tom Hodgson-3.

Saturday 19th May 2002 at Hucknall

 

v Hucknall

On Saturday the Boldmere Orcas' Youth team travelled to Hucknall for a Midland Youth League fixture. A strong home team proved much to experienced for the Orcas' overcoming the visitors by 14-5. Despite determined play by the Orcas' the home team dominated the play scoring freely. Chris Walker netted three goals with support from Sam Whelan and Nick Herbert netting goals.

 

Further good news for the Boldmere Orcas',Karen Wigley, Kathrny Fowler ,      Toby Hook, Sam Whelan. Matthew Foulds and Goalkeeper Chris Hooper have been selected to attend a ASA Water Polo Elite session at Bedford on Sunday 26th May.

 

Sunday 12th May 2002 at Wyndley Leisure Centre

 

v Worcester Crocodiles

There was better news for the seniors on Sunday when the visitors Worcester Crocodiles where devoured by the Orcas' seniors.  The Boldmere team recording their first win in defeating the visitors 9-8. The game started with the Orcas finding themselves 3-1 adrift at the end of the first quarter.  Some fine play by Marcus Hook, Mark Spiers and Martin West complemented a fine all round performance to leave the Orcas' with a 3 Goal advantage going into the last minutes, two late goals from the visitors where not enough to snatch the victory from the home team.

 

 

Saturday 11th May 2002 at Wyndley Leisure Centre

 

v Handsworth Grammer School Old Boys

The Boldmere Orcas' water polo teams had mixed fortunes over the weekend. The seniors, entertained HGSOB in a midland league Water Polo fixture, the visitors came away with a 9-6 victory. This fixture is always keenly fought and both sides showed a strong desire to claim the victory, the visitors took advantage of some early Boldmere major fouls and received a large slice of luck when the home goalkeeper pushed the ball round the post for a clear corner which the referees' missed allowing the Handsworth team to take an advantage and score an undeserved goal. Despite some determined play by the Orcas' they could not make any inroads on the Old Boys lead.

Saturday 11th May 2002 at Wyndley Leisure Centre

 

v Handsworth Grammer School Old Boys

On the same evening a depleted Orcas' youth team came out second best to the HGSOB youth team, going down 13-5.  The Orcas' badly missed the young players who were swimming in the Diddy League however there was some fine performances from Chris Walker, Tom Hodgson and Chris Kieghts.

Sunday 28th April 2002 at Thimblemill Baths

 

v Warley Wasps

 

On Sunday the Boldmere Orca's Youth team travelled to Current League Champions Warley for a Midland Youth League Fixture and came away with a 9-9 draw.


The game opened brightly for the Orca's with goals from Istavan Nemeshanji and Chris Walker giving the Orcas' a first quarter lead. Both sides them scored freely leaving the score at 5-5 going into the final quarter. A frantic last quarter saw both teams going for the win the lead changed hands on several occasions, however the final score of 9-9 was a fair result with neither teams being able to control the game.

Sunday 14th April 2002 at Wyndley Leisure Centre

 

v Camp Hill 

On Sunday the Boldmere Orca's youth team paid host to Camp Hill in a Midland League Youth fixture. The visitors came away with a 9-5 victory. The youthfull Orca's team who had lost many of their more experinced players due to changes in the the age structure, put up a determined performance, with Clare Gambles and Sophie Whelan making their first appearance, the home team could not hold the goal scoring talents of Mat Bourne who scored 8 of the visitors 9 goals. The first two periods were evenly matched however as the Orca's coach gave a run out to all his players the visitors took advantage and opened up a six goal lead going into the last quarter. some sprited play by the Orca's reduced the margin to 9-5. Sunday 31st March 2002 at Wyndley Leisure Centre

v Warley

Boldmere Orcas senior team suffer disappointment in opening midland League fixture at Wyndley Leisure centre, going down 14-9 to a strong Warley team. The first quarter started with a flurry of goals the home side taking the lead 5-4. In the second quarter both teams scored twice to leave the score at 7-6 to the Orcas, The third period was disappointing for the home team they failed to add to the their score and Warley went into the lead 8-7. The final period was dominated by the visitors despite some spirited play by the Boldmere lads in the final minutes to peg the score back.

Sunday 24th March 2002 at Wyndley Leisure Centre

 

v Aston 

 

The Boldmere Orcas' opened there Midland League campaign with a visit to local rivals Aston. A strong Aston side eventually ran out winners by 12-8, the game opened with the Orcas' scoring two quick goals through Tony Ward. However the home side hit back to lead at the end of the quarter 4-3. The Boldmere Orcas' ran into foul problems in the next two periods with Aston taking advantage of the man up play to hold the upper hand and extend the lead to 9-5. Despite some determined play by the Orcas; they could not dent the Aston Lead.

 

 

The junior team entertained Hucknall Juniors in the Junior League, unfortunately the youthful Orcas' were no match for the visitors and went down 19-5, scorers for the Orcas, Ray Dunnn - 2 Jack Bryant-1 Micheal Foulds-1 and Sam Jenkins.

 

 

 

Sunday 10th February 2002 at Wyndley Leisure Centre

v Warley

Mixed fortunes for the Orcas Water Polo teams. The newly formed under 14s defeated Warley 14-6 in an entertaining fixture, Nick Herbert leading the way with 5 goals, Clare Gambles contributed 2 goals on her first game for the club.   Toby Hook and Matthew Foulds also found the net. 11 year old Kathryn Fowler, Karen Wigley and goalkeeper Chris Hooper had outstanding games in their first outing with the new team.

 

The senior team went down 9-5 to an experienced Camp Hill team in the Warwickshire ASA knock out. The Orcas' fielding a very young team with 4 players from the youth team on duty found it hard to breakdown the Camp Hill defence with Richard Greenwood marshalling his defence to great effect. The Orcas' kept in touch with their visitors with goals from Matthew Harley,Laurence Bailey Andy Jones,Piers Burford and Richard Baker, however with the Orcas' suffering from the loss of two players due to exclusion penalties the visitors where able to hang on for their win.

 

Sunday 24th January 2002 at Wyndley Leisure Centre

 

v Solihull 

 

On Sunday the Boldmere Orcas' junior team entertained Solihull again in a Warwickshire County pool game. On this occasion the Orcas' scored a rare victory over last years finalists by 13 - 10. The game opened with the Orcas' scoring two quick goals, but the visitors hit back to level, the first quarter ended with the home team taking a slender 4-3 lead.  The second quarter saw the visitors hold the Orcas' to share the goals, however some determined play in the third quarter allowed the Orcas' to score 5 goals with the visitors only managing 1.

 

With a five goal cushion going into the last period the Orcas' maintained their advantage, two late goals from the visitors made the reduce the deficit however the home team fully deserved the win. Midland Youth League


Sunday 3rd February 2002 at Wyndley Leisure Centre

v Hucknall

On Sunday the Boldmere Orcas' entertained Hucknall youth in a their last Midland league youth fixture. Both team were playing for second place in the league. The game opened with the Boldmere lads taking an early lead with a smart goal from Ben west, however despite the Orcas' scoring further goals from Ben West and Chris Walker the strong Hucknall team kept pegging the home team back to Finnish the first quarter all square at 4-4. The Orcas, had the better of the second quarter, out scoring the visitors 5-3 to leave the half time score 9-7 in the home teams favour. An indifferent performance from the Orcas' in the third quarter saw Hucknall score 4 goals without reply to leave the Orcas' 9-11 down going into the fourth quarter. The large crowd where then entertained to one of the most thrilling periods of Water Polo seen at Wyndley, the Orcas' responded with a quick goal from Jack Bryant, however the visitors stretched their lead back to two goals. With time running out a tired Orcas' team kept surging forward in search of goals. Their determined play thrilled the crowd and they gained their reward with goals from Sam Jenkins, Chris Walker and the eventual winner from Ben West. Despite the Hucknall's team coach calling a time out to give his team last minute instructions it was the Orcas, who gained possession and ran the clock down to snatch victory from the visitors.

The Boldmere Club are now forming an under 14 team for a summer competition any swimmers who would like to try Water Polo would be welcome at their training session on Thursday 8.0pm or Sunday 7.30pm at Wyndley.

Sunday 20th January 2002 at Walsall Swimming Pool

v Walsall

The Orcas' youth team visited Walsall for a Midland League youth fixture, with several players unavailable they managed to fight of a determined Walsall side and emerged with a 7-6 win. Credit must go to the players bought in to the team David Woods, Nick Herbert, Toby Hook, Graham Bates, and Istvan Nemeshanji, supported Sam Jenkins, Ben West and Micheal Foulds.  Goelkeeper Joel Rowley made some important saves and distributed the ball well to support his players. The goal scorers were, Micheal Foulds-3, Ben West -2, David Woods-2.

 

 

Wrekin League


Sunday 20th January 2002 at Wyndley Leisure Centre

v Stafford

 

The Orcas senior team entertained Stafford in a Wrekin leauge fixture at Wyndley the youthfull home side eventually overcame the physically strong visitors 10-7.  A number of the Orcas junior squad played, Micheal Foulds playing his second game of the day, and Chris Walker scoring a fine goal on his senior debut. The other Orcas scorers where Martin West -3 Richard, Baker-2, Mathew Harley-3, J Kieght-1.

 

 

Sunday 13th January 2002

 

v Combined Police Team

On Sunday the Senior Team travelled to King Edwards to take on the Combined Police team, despite a spirited performance the powerful Police team ran out winners 12-3.

 

On Saturday (13th January 2002) five players from the Orcas youth team - Michael Foulds, Andy Jones, Ben West, Chris Walker, and Sam Jenkins - represented The City of Birmingham in the ASA National Youth Water Polo Championships against the current holders Cheltenham at Wyndley. The Cheltenham team with there more experienced team eventually ran out winners 15-7. The Orcas' players despite their relevant lack of experience at this level performed well.

Wednesday 9th January 2002 at Coventry Swimming Pool

v Coventry

With the winter break over the Boldmere Orcas, resumed their water polo action. The Youth team travelled to Coventry for a Midland League youth fixture. The Orcas recorded their best win of the campaign in achieving a 25-4 victory, to send them into second place in the league with two games remaining. The Orcas scorers where David Woods-1 Jack Bryant-3 Sam Whelan-2, Andy Jones-3, Michael Foulds-5, Sam Jenkins-1, Ben West -6 Nick Herbert-1, and Chris Walker-2.

 

 

 

Wrekin League


Sunday December 16th at Wyndley Leisure Centre

v Aston

The Orcas' senior players celebrated Christmas early with a Christmas feast of goals against a depleted Aston side.  In the last competitive game before the Christmas break the home side showed Aston no mercy.

Racing into a 6-0 lead by the end of the first period, with the goals being shared by Lawrence Bailey, Simon Hooper, Martin West, Marcus Hook, Richard Baker and Matthew Harley. Aston regrouped in the second and third quarters to leave the score 10-4 at the end of the third period.  In the final period the Orcas' again went goal crazy to register a further 6 goals with Aston only managing 2 in replay.

Sunday 9th December at Wyndley Leisure Centre

v Paragon

Boldmere Orcas' youth team welcomed Paragon to the Wyndley Leisure Centre on Sunday for a Midland League Youth Team Fixture.  The home team stormed into a 5-1 first quarter lead with goals from Andy Jones, Michael Foulds and Ben West. The visitors had little answer to the strong play of the Orcas' youngsters. 

In the second quarter some excellent saves by Joel Rowley kept the spirited visitors at bay and further goals from Michael Foulds, Ben West and Jack Bryant kept the pressure on Paragon to give them a commanding 8-1 lead at the half way stage.

In the second two quarters the Orcas' coach gave opportunities to some of the younger members of the squad with Toby Hook and Chris Walker adding two goals apiece to complement a fine effort from Ben West. Although the Paragon team came more into the game determined play from David Woods Nick Herbert and Graham Bates and Sian Lynch making her first start to the season ensured the home team a fine victory by a final score of 13-7.

 

 

Midland Youth League

Monday 3rd December at King Edwards School Camp Hill

v Camp Hill

The Boldmere Orcas' youth team travelled to Camp Hill for a Youth League fixture against the Camp Hill Edwardian youth team on Monday 3rd December.

The game opened in a blitz of scoring  with Michael Foulds netting the first of his five goals inside the first 30 seconds. The Orcas' led 5-0 at the close of the first quarter. In the second period play was fairly even with the Orcas' holding on to their lead. However a spirited fight back by the home team in the third quarter reduced the lead to 10-9.

The Orcas' quickly regained control in the opening minutes of the final period, with goals from Ben West, Sam Jenkins and a final goal from Michael Foulds, Andy Jones also scored three to help the Orcas' to a final 13-10 victory.

The next fixture for the youth team is against a strong Paragon team on Sunday 9th December at Wyndley start 8.30pm

v Warley

On Sunday The Orcas' entertained Warley in an under 15s fixture, in a highly competitive match the Orcas' defeated the visitors by 9-7, Toby Hook led the way with three goals followed by Chris Walker and Ian Sheldrake with two and Graham Bates and David Brown netted a goal apiece.

Friday 23rd November at Handsworth

 v Handsworth Grammer School Old Boys 

On Friday the youth team made a return to winning ways with a 9-2 victory over HGSOB at Handsworth. In a scrappy game Ben West and Andy Jones scored the goal and some fine goalkeeping by stand in keepers Sam Jenkins and Michael Foulds kept the Old Boys at bay.

 

 

Wrekin League

Thursday 22nd November at Newcastle under Lyme

v Paragon

The Boldmere Orcas' Water polo teams, have had a busy few Days on Thursday 22nd the senior team travelled to Newcastle under Lyme to Play Paragon in a Wrekin League fixture. The Orcas' gave a good account of themselves restricting the powerful Staffordshire side to a 6-5 victory. Simon Hooper making a welcome return to the club organised the team well scoring two fine goals in the process.

 

 

Sunday 18th November at Wyndley Leisure Centre

 v King Edwards School

A strong King Edwards School youth team visited Wyndley on Sunday and overpowered a Orcas' team by 18 - 11. The Orcas' started slowly and where caught out by some sharp finishing from the visitors, the Orcas' giving the ball away in attacking positions and being punished by the counter breaks of the Kings players, the score at the end of the first quarter being 7-0 .

 The Orcas' came to terms with the counter attack of the Kings players and hauled themselves back into the game. Strong play by Michael Foulds and Andy Jones assisted by Chris Walker took the game to the Kings School team and reduced the arrears to 9-11. However despite two penalty's from Ben West the impressive visitors where able to extend their lead finally finishing victors by 18-11.

Although the Orcas' where disappointed the quality of the play by both sides was a credit to all the players from both sides.

 

Midland Youth League

Sunday 11th November at Wyndley Leisure Centre

v Warley Wasps

Orca's suffer disappointment, depleted Orca's youth team suffer 17-12 defeat against current league champions Warley Wasps.

The Orca's Team were hit by late withdrawals from key players due to illness, and injuries.  The game opened with the Warley team taking full advantage of a makeshift Orca's, team racing into a 7-2 first quarter lead, the Orac's goalkeeper Chris Walker having little opportunity to stem the goal flow.  However the home team fought back with great determination to restrict the rampant Warley Wasps youngsters. Two fine goals from Nick Herbert well supported by Andy Jones and Ben West kept the Orca's in the game.

Further goals from Sam Jenkins and Toby Hook raised the spirits of the Orca's players, strong performances from new player Graham Bates and Istvan Nemeshanji insured that the Orca's made Warley fight all the way for there win.

 

Wrekin League

Sunday 21st Nov at Wyndly Leisure Centre

v Handsworth Grammer School Old Boys

Boldmere Orca's opened their winter Wrekin league campaign with a defeat against local rivals HGSOB. The Orcas side gave first team debuts to Ben Jackson, Graham Kelsall, Paul Diebel, and welcomed back Stuart Smith, and Paul Buett after missing much of last season due to work commitments. The game opened slowly with both sides finding the net in the first quarter. 

The youthful Orcas squandered an opportunity to take the lead missing two man up plays, however the game proved to be evenly matched over the next two periods with Piers Burford scoring 3 goals with John Cooper replying for Handsworth to level the scores at 5-5 at the close of the third period.

In the last period the more experienced Handsworth lads took advantage of some poor finishing by the Orca's to score 4 breakaway goals with the home team managing a last minute consolation goal to leave the final score 9-6 in favour of the visitors.

Taking into account the youthful nature of the Orcas team this was a performance that shows great promise for the future. 

Next Fixture is Sunday Nov 11th against Newport in the Wrekin League at Wyndley start 8.30pm

 

Midland Youth League

16th October 2001 at Solihull

 v Solihull

Boldmere youth team travelled to Solihull to take on one of the Leagues most successful clubs over the last few years. The match proved to be a cliffhanger with the Orcas taking an early lead with a fine effort from Chris Walker. However the full bath press of the Solihull team disrupted the play of the Orcas and the home team hit back with three goals to take an early 3-1 lead.

The second quarter was fairly even with both side scoring Michael Foulds opening his account for the Orcas. In the third period some determined play by the Orcas with three goal from Ben West transformed the score from being 4-2 down to end the quarter leading 5-4.

Both side then showed their desire for a result with play switching from end to end and goals flowing from both sides, the Orcas overcoming a debatable penalty decision showed tremendous courage to take the game to Solihull, with just over a minute's play left the Orcas found themselves 8-7 down, a spirited final effort saw Andy Jones draw the scores level them deep into the last minute Michael Foulds delighted the travelling Orcas contingent by netting the winning goal. Some very tired but happy Orcas players dragged themselves from the water for the journey home.

The next game for the Orcas Youth Team is against current league champions and favourites for the league title Warley on November 11th at Wyndley Leisure Centre start 8.30pm.

Sunday October 14th

The newly formed Boldmere Orca's Youth Water Polo team entertained Newport in their opening Midland League Youth Water Polo fixture at Wyndley Leisure Centre.

The Boldmere lads overwhelmed their visitors in the opening period with Michael Foulds leading the way with 3 goals, supported by 2 goals from Andy Jones and Sam Jenkins, with Nick Herbert winning a penalty decision which he dispatched with ease.

The second period saw the visitors mount a comeback out scoring the Orca's by 3 goals to 2, this left the Home team with a 10-4 half time advantage.  In the final two periods the Orca's regained control with Ben West scoring 3 goals, the visitors only managing to beat goalkeeper Joel Rowley with 2 goals, leaving the home team victors by 15-6.

Although not on the score sheet Chris Walker, Istvan Nemeshanji and Jack Bryant turned in good performances. The Orca's coach Chris Hook was able to give first outings to Graham Bates, Mathew Foulds and Matthew Kieghts and 11year old Toby Hook delighted the large crowd by scoring the final goal.

 

 

Friday 28th September 2001

Thriller at Handsworth


The Sutton Club visited Handsworth Grammar School Old Boys for their last Midland League fixture of the season. The Handsworth boys were determined to atone for the drubbing they received earlier in the season at Wyndley. The game started with the Handsworth lads taking an early lead, Tim Peppar leading the way with three first quarter goals, Martin West kept the Sutton lads in the game with strikes. A further goal from Tim Peppar and Aidrian Brough and replies from Lawrence Bailey and Piers Burford gave Handsworth a slight advantage 5-4 at half time.
Goals from Jeremy Kieght and Martin West led a Sutton fight back and Sutton restricted Handsworth to a single goal, giving them a slight 7-6 lead going into the final period. The stage was set for a Thrilling final quarter. Handsworth pressed the Sutton goal with some fine breakaway play but David Ainsworth made several important saves. However with the scores locked on 8-8 Handsworth scored with less than 30 seconds on the clock. A final push from Sutton resulted in a man advantage play for Sutton, however a fine save from schoolmaster Ken Gower kept the Sutton boys at bay. From the resultant corner Richard baker was able to power in the equaliser taking a fine pass from Piers Burford. On the balance of play 9-9 was a fair result from two evenly matched teams.


 

 

Sunday 23rd September 2001

On Sunday 23rd Sutton visited king Edward's School Edgbaston for a rearranged midland league fixture against local rivals Aston, The Sutton Team took a surprising 4-1 lead from the first quarter, further goals from Piers Burford and Mark Spiers kept the Aston  team trailing 6-4 going into the last period, the final period was keenly fought with Aston continually pressing the Sutton Goal, Aston stalwart Geoff Ward scored a fine goal to keep the pressure on Sutton, and well inside the final minute Aston failed to score from a man up advantage position leaving Sutton 6-5 winners.

 

During the Winter the Sutton team will play under the banner of Boldmere Swimming Club and is looking for new recruits for senior team to play in the Wrekin League, training takes place on Sundays at 7.15pm at Wyndley Leisure Centre

Friday 21st September 2001

 

Sutton Water Polo Club had a successful weekend in playing two midland league fixtures, on Friday 21st they travelled to relegation troubled Stafford despite losing the services of a number of senior players with work commitments this enabled the club the opportunity to bring in youngster Andy Jones from the youth team. The Sutton club gave a good account of themselves holding the physically stronger Stafford team to 2-2 at the end of the first quarter. Some determined play by the Sutton team in the second and third quarters saw them hold a 7-6 lead going into the final period. However the Stafford team desperate for some league points mounted a strong challenge forcing the Sutton lads onto the defensive, however a fine goal from Lawrence Bailey helped the visitors in hanging on for a well deserved 8-8 draw.

A depleted Sutton team travelled to Warley for a Senior Midland League Water Polo fixture.  Despite taking an early lead through Lawrence Bailey, the Sutton team failed to take advantage of a number of goal scoring chances and soon found themselves trailing a strong Warley team.  The Sutton team where kept in the game by some good goalkeeping from David Ainsworth.  However as the game progressed, despite further goals from Mathew Harley and Lawrence Bailey, the constant pressure of Warley on the Sutton goal resulted in a disappointing final score of 9-4 to Warley.



This coming weekend sees the Sutton Club staging a Water Polo festival with two games on Saturday at Wyndley against Handsworth Grammar School Old Boys starting at 6.00pm and on Sunday the Sutton Youth entertain Camp Hill at 8.30pm.

 


At 7.30pm the ASA Water Polo national development officer is giving a demonstration of the new game for schools and clubs of mini water polo.  This is part of the national programme to introduce the Water Polo to all youngsters between the age of 8-12.

 

 

Thursday May 24th 2001


The Sutton team travelled to Worcester on Thursday to play Worcester Crocodiles in a Senior Midland League fixture. The Sutton team quickly seized the advantage in the first quarter, making the most of their man up situations, ending the quarter 4-1 up. However the Worcester team levelled the scores at half time and the two final periods saw the lead change at frequent times.  Some fine play by Andy Hall enabled the Sutton team to be pressing hard for the winner in the final seconds.  However the final whistle saw the two teams locked at 7-7

Warley Juniors v Sutton/BoIdmere Juniors


Midland Junior League
On Sunday the Sutton Juniors travelled to league champions Warley for a Midland League Junior fixture. The experienced Warley team, containing several members of the Midland District under 20s representative side, proved far too strong for the combined junior team of Sutton and Boldmere.  The 19-3 scoreline showed the difference in the two sides' strength.  Credit must be given to the Sutton boys for their effort and will to compete with special mention to Nick Herbert and Toby Hook for their efforts against much older and stronger players.

On Sunday June 10th The ASA National Water Polo Development Officer Piers Martin will be at the Wyndley Pool at 7.30pm to launch the new game of Mini Water Polo. Swimmers from Boldmere Swimming Club will be assisting Piers in demonstrating the new game.

Double joy for the Water Polo players of the combined Sutton/Boldmere Clubs.

 

On Sunday afternoon the under 14s travelled to Walsall and took part in a thrilling 9-9 draw against a strong Walsall team. The Sutton coach Chris Hook was delighted with the player's attitude and their ever improving standard of play.

On Sunday evening the Sutton/BoIdmere senior team entertained Coventry in a Midland League fixture at Wyndley.  In a typical league encounter which required strong refereeing, 24 major fouls were recorded, however the match officials kept the game flowing.  The Sutton team opened the scoring and some fine defending of
the extra man situations restricted the scoring opportunities of the visitors.
The Sutton team took advantage of their man extra plays and some steady all round play from the team, resulted in a fine 18-11 win.

Sutton/Boldmere U14 v Warley U14

The combined Sutton/Boldmere youth team entertained local rivals Warley in a youth team fixture at Wyndley on Sunday.

The opening two periods play was end to end with the Sutton team taking the lead on several occasions only to concede goals by poor tactical play which enabled the visitors to turn round at half time on level terms, 7 all.

In the 3rd quarter Sutton opened up a commanding lead by scoring 7 goals to Warley's 2, they maintained this dominance in the final quarter again outscoring Warley by 3-2 to run out winners 17-11
