Photos of my 18th Birthday

On December 28th '96, the day after my 18th, I celebrated by going for a meal with some friends. We went to Maxis, without doubt the best Chinese Restaurant in Leeds (just off the Kirkstall Road). We took a digital camera, a Casio QV-10A. I decided to put some of the photos on my web page. So here they are.

Everybody round the table at Maxis. Starting with the dark-haired guy on the right in the foreground and going anti-clockwise: Joel Harrison, Edward Longhurst (blonde guy - it doesn't look like it on this photo, but he is actually sitting next to Joel), Robert Stonehouse, "Hoppy" (Richard Hopkins - quite hard to see on this photo - his head is sticking out from Joel's chin), Depika Lakhaney, Sarah Yates, Emma Yates, me, Matthew Longhurst, Paul Moffatt, Anna Pearson, Jonathan Dittman.

"Matthew sees the starter arriving"

"Paul pretends to like the wine"

"Jonathan and Anna, waiting for the next course"

Joel - photographed by Matthew after a few glasses of wine.

N.B. Sometime during the penultimate course, Edward Longhurst managed to get hold of the camera, and he sneakily deleted all photos of him. As a result, it has proven impossible to bring you a close up of Edward at Maxis. However, his brother (Matthew) has agreed to supply me with a baby photo, which I will put here in the next couple of weeks, instead.

Is Robert being watched by one of the waiters?

"Sarah watches Matthew open another bottle"

Emma looking gorgeous in a stunning dress. Unfortunately, the photo was very dark - this is the best Paint Shop Pro could do.

Well, thank you for taking the trouble to read this. I'd like to thank all the people whose photos appear here (+ Edward) for being great friends and for making my 18th memorable. That also applies to Jonathan Trueman, who couldn't make it to the meal. Thanks too to my parents for footing the bill, for looking after me for 18 years and for paying for our Internet connection. I thoroughly recommend Maxis if you're looking for a good Chinese meal in the Leeds area. If you want to impress the waiters, take a QV10A with you.

I'm running out of space - I only have 5MB for my entire site - so I'm going to finish with a photo selection: "Matthew drinks two and a half bottles of wine".
