Herein lies everything you could ever want to know about me plus a whole lot more that will make your mind boggle!!

Growing Up

My dad striking a pose!Born in the summer of 1973, I lived with my Mum, Dad and older brother until I was 18. We lived in a village about 35 miles outside London, in the county of Buckinghamshire, England. My mum being my mum!

People call me "unique" or "different" - personally I think I'm just plain odd. But with parents like mine who wouldn't be (see the photos!!!!).

With one exception, that I loved school, I was an ordinary child. I was a Brownie, a Girl Guide, and a member of the British Red Cross Society (which was, to be honest, a million times more fun than being in the Girl Guide organisation!).

Whilst I did averagely well in my GCSE's, I did apallingly in my A-Levels. Two D's and an E grade can't really be looked at any other way. Still, even with these I was accepted to my first choice university .... in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Aberdeen

I came to Aberdeen at the end of September 1991, to study for my BEng(Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I am still here. Having completed my bachelor's degree in 1995, I worked for a year before going back to the same university to study for my MSc in Biomedical Engineering. And now, three years later, I'm back again for my PhD. I just can't stop studying!

Aberdeen is a nice city .... very sparkly when the sun is out. But very grey in the rain. Still, at least it doesn't rain that much. At least that's what my Col has been trying to tell me for the last seven years ... but he is a born and bred Aberdonian and he probably feels the need to stand up for his city! I think what he really means is that Aberdeen isn't as wet as the west coast of Scotland. And I would probably agree with that.
