Simple tips for searching:

Use quotation marks around words that are part of a phrase. (all)

+ in front words that must appear in result documents.(all)

- in front of words that must not appear in result documents (all)

( ) around words to force OR search (alltheaweb - no nesting)

Use of Boolean operators :
AND (excite, northern light)
OR  (excite, northern light)
AND NOT  (excite)
NOT (northern light)
( ) (excite, northern light -groups search terms, can be nested)

Use of Wildcards:
* replaces any number of characters
% replaces a single character
(northern light only)

Field Searching:
TEXT: (northern light)
URL: (northern light)
TITLE: (northern light, yahoo!)
SORT:date (northern light)
SITE: (google - search single domain)

Natural Languague search supported by:
Northern Light

These are the WWW search engines I use most frequently. I find they give good results and are usually very quick. As a reminder as to which engines work with which commands, I have put methods of limiting searches on the right of this page.
