We are situate on the A63 trunk road, approx. 13 miles east of Leeds. The market town of Selby is 8 miles away and the city of York is 20 miles distant. The A1, M1 link and M62 motorways are a 5 -10 minute drive away. Although we are in North Yorkshire our Royal Mail postcode is LS25 which is a Leeds (West Yorkshire) postcode. The nearest train station is located at South Milford, approx one and a half miles away. See below To see a map of the vicinity click this arrow. The village was until recent years a mainly farming community. Although it still retains links with the land through families who have lived here for generations it has welcomed newcomers and has now become a popular commuter village. Dominating the area is the Church, standing on rising ground on the main road through the village, and across from the church, Monk Fryston Hall, a fine hotel set in wooded parkland, the entrance to which is from the village square. Also situated in the square is a good example of a thatched cottage. There are two fine hostelries, both situated on the main road, the "Blue Bell" and the "Crown". Although accommodation is limited to Monk Fryston Hall, a number of hotels and guest houses are located in the vicinity. Please view our village in more detail by using the links to other pages.
