Women With Interests Reborn

As part of the Community Association’s new dynamic approach to initiating and supporting a diverse range of community ventures, a meeting was held mid-February to see if there was sufficient interest to restart and restructure the above previously well-supported group.

The organisers must have been delighted with the response. Nearly 30 enthusiastic women attended. This in itself answered the first question: was there sufficient interest to revive the group?

Those present discussed reorganisation issues, and very quickly a broadly based organisational structure and provisional short-term programme emerged. There is no formal membership; £1 per meeting contribution to cover hall hire and light refreshments. The planning and organisation of events will be shared on a paired basis. Extra costs and arrangements for specific activities and visits will be advised by the event organisers at the previous month’s meeting.

The group will continue with the previously highly successful wide-ranging mix of speakers, activities and visits, but will spread the organisational load. It will generally be based at the Community Centre. Meetings will be at 7.30 pm on the third Thursday of the month.

So, Women with Interests is reborn. Once again there is the opportunity for the women within the community to extend their interests, meet and socialise locally. The group looks forward to renewing old friendships and, even more so, to welcoming newcomers.
