BIOGRAPHY

Hello and welcome to my website. I hope you have enjoyed my artwork so far, and if you're still interested,

here are a few personal details that will probably bore you to tears - but here goes!!.

First of all, I'm an Aquarian, born 17.02.63 which now makes me all of 37 years old. Bizarrely enough,

my wife was born on the same date, if not the same year, so we can both agree that the 17th of February

is a fine date and that Aquarius is simply the best star sign of all!!(you may disagree).

As far as painting goes, this is an obsession that goes back as long as I can remember. My mom tells me

I started drawing at the tender age of two years and I've been at it ever since. In general, there are two strands to

my art in terms of theme. I enjoy landscape art and am inspired by the lovely, but often bleak countryside that

surrounds my home town of Sheffield (maybe you know it from the movie 'The Full Monty'?). When I was younger,

I was also drawn to the work of painters such as David Shepherd, Atkinson Grimshaw, Helen Allingham and Andrew Wyeth.

At the same time as I developed an interest in this more 'traditional' field, however, I also started to develop a near

obsession with Sci-fi and fantasy art and films. I was brought up on brilliant artists such as Frank Bellamy and Frank Hampson

of 'Eagle' comic fame and soon became aware of the fabulous artwork produced by masters of the genre such as Frank Frazetta,

,Boris Vallejo and Chris Foss. Since then, I have spent countless hours studying printed versions of the paintings of

amazing fantasy, sci-fi and comic strip artists, particularly Jim Burns, Chris Moore, Rodney Matthews, Gerald Brom, Chris Achilleos, John Harris,

Tim White, Simon Bisley, Glenn Fabry, Alex Ross, Richard Corben, Fred Gambino, Steve Stone, Travis Charest, Virgil Finlay, Donato Giancola

and of course, Michael Whelan (this is an abreviated list - it just goes on and on!).

At the moment, my main income comes from the video game industry producing hand drawn concept art and computer graphics using packages such

Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Kinetix 3d Studio Max and Alias Wavefront's Maya. I have been lucky enough

to be involved with a series of exciting fantasy\horror titles such as Gremlin Interactive's 'Realms of The Haunting' and Infogrames Studios

'Soulbringer'. I am currently producing concept art for 'Realms of the Haunting 2'. In conjunction with this area of work, I am continuing

to produce and sell landscape art and fantasy paintings. In the near future, along with seeking agency representation in London, I shall be participating

in a very prestigious art event at Ranby Hall in Nottinghamshire, England. Both my landscape and Fantasy paintings will be on show.
