Here they
are in their natural environment - the kitchen. It's hard to believe that
they're closely related to the big cats of Africa. While the lions patiently
stalk their prey through the tall grass of the savannah this lot hang round
the kitchen waiting for someone to open a tin of cat food. The call of the
wild isn't very loud round here.
From the top we have Leo a.k.a. "Big fat ginger beast". Leo is a 13 year old ginger ex tom. Leo the lion - king of the jungle. Well just like a real male lion he spends most of his time asleep or hanging round waiting for someone else to provide him with some food. He's very friendly - too friendly. He comes and sits between me and my computer when I'm trying to work and falls asleep on my mouse pad and believe me he takes up a lot of desk space! He even has an internet account and if your really sad you can email him. Being a generous old boy he's donated me his web space - funny that.
Next up we have Crackers a.k.a. "Big black hairy beast". Crackers, who is a four year old ex tom, was so named because arrived just before Christmas. He is extremely hairy and when he's asleep he looks like a big ball of fur with four paws and a nose. He spends a lot of his time prowling around the neighbourhood somewhere. He also occasionally catches unfortunate small hairy animals.
Finally we have Pixie a.k.a. "Little cute kitteny beast". These days pixie is more a young cat than a kitten these days but she's still the little girl of the three and she's still seriously cute. She sits on top of the bird table (we're talking serious optimism here), chases bits of plastic round the kitchen floor and, if she can get them, eats bun wrappers while ignoring the bun. She also walks round the house with the dolls house cushions in her mouth looking really pleased with her self like she's the big fierce hunter.
Cat file suplemental. They don't half grow up quick cats because now the kitteny one has produced kittens of her own - a tabby one and a black and white one. The picture below was taken when they were about a day old. One, two, three, awwww!
Both the kittens are grown up now and have gone to live with friends (ours not theirs - anyone who can open a tin is a cat's friend) and I hope to update the pictures at some time - when I've come to terms with being a totally sad person!
