Chess lovers would be in heaven, the decor is eclectic and invites you to stay all day, coffee is proper coffee. Really friendly owner, staff and customers, mostly locals with a few tourists like ourselves too. 5,10 & 20 Euro deals on weed or buy per gram, all superb potent strains. Nevilles Haze a bargain by summer 09 standards at 8.50/g was amazing. Edelweiss at 8E/g tasted great and was very potent. On our 1st visit the High Rise (aka MasterKush) was recommended - at 10E/g the priciest on the menu but how weed should be - sticky as hell, fat buds, potent and the sweetest taste. Goldrup at 7.50/g was bloody good too and the polm (blond) was the nuts at 6E/g. Mad props to De Graal - my favourite shop in Amsterdam for the great staff, service and punk - great cat and rooftop area too! Very nice place, overall atmosphere similar to the Rainbow Cafe in Nimbin, Australia where I spent some time in my youth. The service was excellent, the girl is a fox and was more than able to provide a strain for the lightweights in my group to myself (heavyweight). Nice music, nice customers. The joints were not hash drained buds either. Overall fair prices and a nice place to mellow out at. Located on the Albert Cuyp Straat, a block or so beyond the market in the direction of the museums, this is a large very comfortable shop. Friendly staff and patrons. This is the sort of shop you'll feel like hanging out in for a while. Plush couches and deep comfy chairs downstairs as well as booths and even a music studio equipped with drums, piano, guitars. Visited a couple times, got a 5 euro bag of Shaman 1st visit, and a E 3 pre-roll the 2nd. Was well pleased with both. There's a pool table and internet (E1 per half hour) on the upper level. Clean rest rooms. For me, a top of the line shop. I happened to be wandering in the rain and came by this place. Way chill. A couple days later I went back with a friend, again nice and chill. We made our way to another shop and I discovered that I was missing my green bag of, well, bags. I went back to de Graal and the bar guy had it right there for me. That's a good feeling. Very comfortable and great for those that play chess. De Graal rules with their 5 stars for being a way cool place to chill for a spell. The Graal is, quite possibly, the best coffeeshop in Amsterdam. I have spent many a day there, not wanting to go anywhere else. The regulars are something to see, and most of em are really nice and interesting characters. Half Dutch people and half ex-pats and tourists. Ask for Goldrup and you will know bliss. Music varies a lot, from trance crap to bossanova. Cheap internet too. The boss is a great guy and you will feel at home and will not want to leave. You have many choices on the menu and many times you have a nice girl behind the bar. There is a pool and also a music studio place in the bottom that you can rent for a few hours with a piano and all installation microphone. You can also play chess or backgammon and if he has enough time, the boss prepare for every body who are there at this time a nice macrobiotic diner. Also in this area you can find many Italian Chinese and Indian restaurants. Go to this place, have a good memory. Many people from all over the world I could see there Indians, Japanese, English and French, of course. How to post comments
