This part of the site contains the complete text of this classic reference work, first published in 1901. Documents range in date from the Conquest to 1885. The text is scanned from the US edition of 1930.
Two points are probably worth adding to those made in the editors’ Preface. This being an American publication, the “modernized spelling” they mention is, of course, to the American standard, which, although it looks odd to a British eye in this context, is no less (or more) legitimate than a British one would be. I have not altered any spellings. The other point is that a large number of statutes now have “short titles” given to them by Statute Law Revision Acts passed since this work was published. Where I happen to know them I have added these titles in square brackets, but there are many others.
As always, notification of typos is especially welcome—I don’t suppose that I have spotted all the scanning errors.
