David Winter Books

A small book containing colour illustrations of the cottages available at the time, along with a narrative similar to that found on certificates. There is also a short fable based on Brookside Hamlet. The booklet was revised, updated and reprinted as the Collectors' Catalogue. It went out of print in 1989.

This book captures the beginning and early days of John Hine Studios. How David and John met, how they ended up making cottages, how cottages are made, Eggars Hill, awards, the Guild, restyled pieces, and the (as then) current range of cottages with a photo and description of each piece. Finally, there is a photo gallery of retired pieces. The book was also available in a special leather bound edition.

A softcover booklet with a reddish brown wood effect cover (as used on promotional leaflets that year). Includes photographs of all current pieces (in 1989) plus descriptions.

The first David Winter handbook to feature secondary market prices. In addition to the history of cottages, making cottages, current (up to end 1991), new (1992) and retired pieces, etc.; there were sections on memorabilia, boxes and certificates, and special commision and charity pieces. The first edition has a section of advertisments which were not included in the reprint.

This handy sized book was crammed with masses of material and information. Section 1 covered the David Winter story, cottage collecting, and backstamps. Section 2 covered the entire cottage range (current and retired) up to Guardian Castle. Section 3 included rare and unreleased pieces, variations, memorabilia, a complete listing of mice and owls, collectors' clubs (including the DWCC-UK!) and a master index.

An update to the 1994 guide, this was a booklet covering 1994 to spring 1996 and was a very austere publication. There are no pictures (just text) and it was released towards the end of the Media Arts period during the downward turn of the secondary market.
