I support Manchester United Dominica, the Nature Island
The Delphis Dominican website. Mastered by a motorcyclist from Manchester who owns a cat. A super resource. The restaurant and hotel webpages that we use are hosted by Delphis and there are many others for you to investigate.
Cakafete, another tourist style site about Dominica. The spelling is a bit doubtful sometimes. The Quiz centre is very interesting. Most of them don't work, but you can put some in that do.
Destinations is a really well presented site, designed to sell cruises, full of 360 degree panoramas .  They also have  South American and Thai sections ; you need to find their home page for these.
Keep an eye on the weather in the Caribbean by using the weather satellite.

I enjoyed my trip to India India

Particular thanks go to the HERMIT at Celtic Edge for the permission to use the Java Applet that powers the slide shows.

In part 1 of the trip ... Around Kerala

In part 2 of the trip ... Tiger Trail

  • The World Wildlife Fund via its Panda Organisation website has many quizzes. If the children read the captions to the slide show carefully they should be able to answer most of the tiger questions.

  • Of all the Tiger websites, and there are many, the Tiger Information Center is perhaps the best.  If you are using the material with older children there are some VERY GOOD MODELLING activities based on the decisions a zoo keeper would need to take.

  • For general information about Mysore there is the city website ... and many more photographs from Michel in France.

In part 3 of the trip ... Rich and Poor

  • The Indian webmasters don't use many pictures on their sites so it was difficult to find a 'general' site for Mumbai. Best seems to be Hiindia.

  • Most of the charities working in India direct their sites at adults as part of their fund raising effort. Some of these sites are quite artistic. Of practical use is the German ( but in English ) site of SOS-Kinderdorf. There are some nice touches, especially the section on FIFA appointing footballers as ambassadors.

  • A general 'family' site can be found at India Parenting. It is interesting how the youngest children's material is ENGLISH in tradition. Most of the Indian children's stories are very long and very long winded.

In part 4 of the trip ... Diwali.

When you search Yahoo all you seem to get are Happy Diwali messages or adverts for Diwali cards. But try these ...

  • Some of the illustrations for the Ramayana story are Thai in origin. These are by the illustrator Bapu

  • The comic strip illustrations are from Ask Asia.

For really stunning pictures of India try Bailey Donnally's collection.

Finally, for teachers ... there is a lovely personal account of celebrating Diwali by Carrie Carolin.  Don't be put off by the title.
