You may be lucky enough
to find a Fairy ring of mushrooms in the woods. These are circles
of amazing fungi, often red with white spots and pop up in all
the best fairy stories. They are found growing naturally all
over Britain, Europe and North America, preferring grassy areas
and often springing up after rain. According to myth and legend,
they provide magical circles where fairies meet, sing and dance
by the moonlight. In Britain, Fairy rings are sometimes called
Hag rings, because according to magical lore, they are created
by the feet of dancing witches.
