Infantry Regiment:
History

 "K" Company were organized 24 April 1861, at Mulberry Station, Lincoln Co, TN, and joined other Companies which had organized at Camp Harris, Franklin Co, TN, they joined with those assembling at Camp Trousdale, Sumner Co, TN, 29 May 1861.

The 24 September 1864 saw the 8th, 16th and 28th consolidated due to the small numbers left within all these Regiments.

On the 9 April 1865 there was again a consolidation with the Regiment along with 1st (Field's), 6th, 9th, 16th, 27th, 28th and 34th Tennessee Regiments and the 24th Tennessee Infantry Battalion were used to form the 1st Consolidated Tennessee Infantry Regiment, commanded by Hume R. Field. They formed "D" Company.

15th June 1863, near Tullahoma, TN. "I saw a man shot to death----charged with desertion. The brigade was all ordered to the field where he was shot and then the prisoner was brought. They sung and prayed for him----they then took him and led him to a stake and tied him and 12 guns was discharged at him. Six was loaded with ball and six with blank loads. He would not let them blind his eyes. The man's name was Wright, who lived in Jackson County. He belonged to the 8th Tennessee Volunteers."

“E”, formerly “C” “The Comargo Guards.” Men from Lincoln County.
“F”, formerly “D”.
"Ridgeville Hornets - Overton Guards?" Men from Overton County, some from Fentress County.
“G”, formerly “K”. "Gainsboro Invincibles" Men from Jackson County, some from Putnam County.
“H”, formerly “E”. "Celina Invicibles" Men from Celina, Jackson County (now Clay County).
“I”, formerly “A”. "
New Hope Volunteers" Men from Marshall County.
 “K”, formerly “H”. “The Mulberry Riflemen.” Men from Lincoln and Moore Counties.
(Moore County was made from parts of Lincoln, Bedford and Franklin counties in 1871.)
