Captain Harvey H. Dillard

Born in 1829 the son of Reverend John Leath and Candis T. Baker Dillard..

Studied law and then became a well known lawyer in Cookeville.

From Putnam County, TN, he enlisted in the army 9 June 1861.

Released 8 May 1862 under the conscript law he was back in service by March 64 in Dalton, GA, as 1st Lieutenant.

Serving on Colonel Donnell's staff as a major during the Chickamauga and Chattanooga campaigns.

After the war he was to write a memoir that is included in the Military Annals of Tennessee.

He was not known to have married but a woman called Villie Dillard, daughter of a H. H. Dillard, is buried in the Cannada (Kennedy) Cemetery in DeKalb County, TN.

He finally died on the 30 September1904.
