Jarl Harald is one of the greatest of the Jarls of Orkney and Caithness.  He ruled for sixty-eight years overcoming many attempts to usurp his power.  Sweyn Asliefarsson got him his Earldom and he became the protégé of the Jarl Rognvald.  Harald had to fight a war against Sweyn to keep his title, Jarl
Rognvald   having to keep the peace between them.  In 1158 Harold's councillor assassinated Rognvald leaving Harald in total control of the islands.  He eventually fell out with the Kings of Norway and Scotland but somehow survived.  He has been portrayed as a cruel and
treacherous ruler, who earned the nickname "Harald the Wicked" in Caithness.  The truth is more complex, he was a shrewd politician who lived in a violent age .

Each figure is cast in finest Lead-free Pewter, individually
finished by the Artist and stands 9" in overall height.  Jarl Harald is portrayed at the age of twenty  when he finally had control over Orkney.  He was described as an ugly man and his dress reveals his Scottish background rather than Norse.

Jarl Harald is available at £140 plus postage and package.
