This is our Quarterly Prayer Diary

The pattern to our diary is that we use each day of the week to pray for specific items: Sundays - Church Services; Mondays - Departments of the Church; Tuesday - Meetings; Wednesdays – general concerns; Thursday - people of our Church; Fridays - CWM Partners; Saturdays - Other Churches.

 

Monday 1st April – Primary Department of Sunday School.

Tuesday 2nd April - Deacons meeting.

Wednesday 3rd April – We pray for the Oldham & District CF Ministers Fraternal.

Thursday 4th April – We pray for the children and young people of our Church in their daily lives. May they work hard at their education, build strong and loving relationship with their parents and enjoy living life.

Friday 5th April – CWM: European Region; Reformed Churches in the Netherlands.

Saturday 6th April - Uppermill Congregational Church and their pastor, Frank Wroe.

 

Sunday 7th April – Church Service; on this first Sunday of the month we pray for the residents of Trevarrick Court and ask that our Church Services with them may be a source of blessing.

Monday 8th April – Family Church Department of Sunday School.

Tuesday 9th April – We pray for the work of Northern College. There are currently two Congregational Federation students training there, and we asked that they would be adequately equipped and prepared for Ministry.

Wednesday 10th April – We pray for the Inter-Faith Forum, which is bringing the people of Oldham together to try and get to know and understand each other better.

Thursday 11th April – We for the elderly folk of our Church. We think of those who live on their own, those who live far away from their families, those who are not well. May we be true friends and family for them.

Friday 12th April - CWM: European Region; Congregational Federation.

Saturday 13th April – Springhead Congregational Church and their pastors Liz and Tony Dean.

 

Sunday 14th April – Church Service; Parade; Pray for our children and young people; that they may be encouraged to come to our services, enjoy them, and learn from them.

Monday 15th April – Youth Class Department of Sunday School.

Tuesday 16th April – We pray for the Integrated Training Course of the Congregational Federation. For the invaluable work it does for all our Churches by training Church Members for various aspects of leadership.

Wednesday 17th April – We pray for the Oldham Prayer Network. A gathering of local Christians who pray for local concerns.

Thursday 18th April – We pray for the Ladies of our Church.

Friday 19th April - CWM: European Region; United Reformed Church.

Saturday 20th April - Hope Congregational Church; we pray for them at this time when they are seeking a new Minister to lead them.

 

Sunday 21st April - Church Service; we pray for those from our fellowship and other churches who are called to lead acts of worship, may God guide and inspire them.

Monday 22nd April – Pilots.

Tuesday 23rd April – We pray for the upcoming AGM’s of our Ladies Guild and Tuesday Club. We thank God for the fantastic way in which these organisations support our Church.

Wednesday 24th April – Meeting of the Oldham Churches of the Congregational Federation.

Thursday 25th April – We pray for those who do so many of the jobs in Church that go unseen and unrewarded. For their hard work and devotion, we thank you Heavenly Father.

Friday 26th April - CWM: European Region; Presbyterian Church of Wales.

Saturday 27th April - Ashton Road Congregational Church and their pastor, Alan Scholes.

 

Sunday 28th April - Church Service; we think of those in our Church fellowship who need our prayers; for those not well; those who have recently been bereaved; for those problems at home; for those with great worries; for those facing difficult decisions.

Monday 29th April – Brownies.

Tuesday 30th April – We look forward to a very busy month in the Church’s calendar. We think of our Anniversary Services and Whit Sunday, and pray for all the preparations being made.

Wednesday 1st May – We pray for our country at this time of local elections. May we choose wisely those people to be our Councillors, that they may govern effectively in the local community.

Thursday 2nd May – We pray for the men of our Church.

Friday 3rd May - CWM: European Region; Union of Welsh Independents.

Saturday 4th May - Dobcross Congregational Church under the leadership of Pastor Ken Kirkland.

 

Sunday 5th May - Church Service; on the first Sunday of the month, we pray that God may bless and touch our lives as we gather round the Communion table.

Monday 6th May – Guides.

Tuesday 7th May – Deacons meeting.

Wednesday 8th May – We remember that there still remains two vacancies on our Diaconate. We thank God for the enthusiasm of our Deacons, and pray that other would seriously consider taking on this very important role.

Thursday 9th May – We pray for those of our young people preparing to take examinations. May they study diligently and be rewarded for their hard work.

Friday 10th May - CWM: Pacific Region; Congregational Christian Church in American Samoa.

Saturday 11th May - Greenacres Independent Methodist Church and their minister, Raymond Jackson.

 

Church Anniversary Week

Sunday 12th May - Church Service; Church Anniversary; we thank God for his faithfulness and pray that we might be renewed for service to keep the light of witness at Greenacres burning bright.

Monday 13th May - Choir

Tuesday 14th May – At the beginning of Christian Aid Week, we thank God that we see Him actively at work in our world through organisations like Christian Aid. We thank God for all the volunteers who will help with this week’s collection.

Wednesday 15th May – As we prepare for our Church Meeting, may we encourage all within our Church Fellowship to play an active part in the idea-forming and decision-making.

Thursday 16th May – We pray for all those from our Church who work, that they may bring a Christian witness to their workplace.

Friday 17th May - CWM: Pacific Region; Kiribati Protestant Church.

Saturday 18th May - Holy Trinity, Waterhead and their vicar, Garry Whitaker.

 

Pentecost

Sunday 19th May - Church Service; Whit Sunday; we continue to ask for God’s Holy Spirit to guide us and inspire us in the work we do, and today we ask for God to watch over us during our procession of witness.

Monday 20th May – Ladies Guild.

Tuesday 21st May – Church Meeting.

Wednesday 22nd May – Following our Church Meeting, may we implement our decisions effectively and unite everybody with our plans and ideas.

Thursday 23rd May – We pray for everyone connected with our Church. May everyone feel part of the family of God people’s worshipping at Greenacres Congregational Church.

Friday 24th May - CWM: Pacific Region; Nauru Congregational Church.

Saturday 25th May - St Barnabas, Clarksfield and their vicar, Dougie Oates.

 

Sunday 26th May - Church Service; we remember those who cannot join with us in Worship, especially our housebound members and those not well.

Monday 27th May – Tuesday Club.

Tuesday 28th May – For those of our organisations planning the final ‘sixth’ of their year. For Guides, Brownies and Pilots.

Wednesday 29th May – For all those on late spring breaks, we pray that they may be refreshed and revitalised.

Thursday 30th May – We pray for the children and young people of our Church as they approach their spring half term. May they enjoy their holiday.

Friday 31st May - CWM: Pacific Region; Congregational Union of New Zealand.

Saturday 1st June - East Oldham Methodist Church, and their minister, Nigel Fox.

 

Open Day Week

Sunday 2nd June - Church Service; At the beginning of the week of celebration for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, we pray for the Royal Family.

Monday 3rd June – In preparation for our Open Day, may everything we do in the life of the Church be for the glory of God. May we take a professional attitude, so that the work we do is a credit to our determination to advance God’s kingdom.

Tuesday 4th June - Deacons meeting.

Wednesday 5th June – In preparation for our Open Day, we pray for our local community. May we have an influence for the good on their lives, and may we serve them to the best of our ability.

Thursday 6th June - In anticipation for our Open Day, we pray for all our organisations preparing displays and witnessing to God’s work. May our Open Day be blest with good weather and genuine interest.

Friday 7th June - CWM: Pacific Region; Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Saturday 8th June - Churches Together in Oldham.

 

Sunday 9th June - Church Service; Parade; may we enjoy learning new ways of worship - new hymns, new prayers, new ideas.

Monday 10th June – Tea & Toast.

Tuesday 11th June – We pray for the work of the Oldham Inter-Faith Committee.

Wednesday 12th June – We pray that in trying to create a ‘family’ fellowship at our Church, we would not exclude others from feeling at home, and feeling valued.

Thursday 13th June – We pray for all the families at Church. May they be encouraged to join in with our activities, and may we learn from the gifts and ideas they bring with them.

Friday 14th June - CWM: Pacific Region; United Church in Papua New Guinea.

Saturday 15th June - The work of the North West Area of the Congregational Federation.

 

Sunday 16th June - Church Service; Fathers Day; we pray for all fathers, that they may live Godly lives and provide inspiration for their families. We pray that they may never abuse their powers. We pray for all Greenacres ‘dads’ – young and old alike.

Monday 17th June – Sunday Night Youth Group.

Tuesday 18th June – We pray for the Oldham Minister’s Fraternal.

Wednesday 19th June – We pray that we might all ask God to give us new gifts and abilities to use in His service.

Thursday 20th June – We pray for all parents – ‘young and old’ – that they may be given wisdom to guide and help their children. Parenting is never finished. May all parents be given the strength to love and encourage all the days of their lives.

Friday 21st June - CWM: Pacific Region; Congregational Christian Church in Samoa.

Saturday 22nd June - The officers and staff of the Congregational Federation.

 

Sunday 23rd June - Church Service;

Monday 24th June – Formula One – a ministry amongst men at Greenacres. This is the newest group we have at Church and we seek to encourage more men to become involved in the life of the Church.

Tuesday 25th June – We pray for all local schools, junior and senior, that they may challenge and encourage their children through their R.E. syllabus.

Wednesday 26th June – We pray that we might develop the gifts that God has given us. Remember the parable of the talents.

Thursday 27th June – We pray for the men at Church, that they might be encouraged to bring their work mates and neighbours along to some of our Church events.

Friday 28th June - CWM: Pacific Region; United Church in Solomon Islands.

Saturday 29th June - The work of the Congregational Federation nationally.

 

Sunday 30th June – Church Service; Half way through the year, may we rededicate ourselves to God’s service and accomplishing the tasks He has set us.
