Useful
Tips
During the normal course of our business
we often come across useful tips which often have little or nothing to
do with catering.
Lemon Juice
Gently heat a lemon
in a microwave before squeezing - this maximises the extracted juice.
NB. Do not overheat
- this can result a dangerous pressurised jet of scalding lemon juice when
the lemon is cut.
Electronic
Equipment
Electronic
equipment such as CD players, video recorders contain microprocessors which
can malfunction due to static electricity, magnetism etc. Typical errors
are as follows:
CD Players:
1. Stops
playing part way through a disc.
2. Difficult
to start on play.
3. Displays "No
disc present" when there is.
Video Recorders:
1. Unable
to set up timer recording using video plus - typically goes into a loop
constantly requesting a video plus number.
2. Fails to record
programs set up in timer record mode.
3. Constantly
stops and starts whilst recording.
Switch off and UNPLUG
the equipment from the mains supply for a day or two. In many cases this
will solve the problem and save a horrendous repair bill. We currently
have 3 CD players because two ceased to work and were replaced. Having
unplugged them and left them for a while - all three now work perfectly!!
