Operation 70

April 2001

A cold east wind was blowing across the Cheshire plain,
Lght snow lay a top Burwardsley hill to whiten its terrain.
No outward signs could be detected of an audacious scheming plot ­
Devised by foreign invaders ­
Not the village lot.

They coded the operation 70 (like 007) but with just the last two in reverse.
Some would call it rather cunning,
Or some perhaps diverse.

The logistics and general planning had taken many days,
But for a successful operation it always pays.

Some say that MI5 and SAS were in hiding all around,
but as you know from past intrigue such rumours do abound.
