There is an old banyan tree in Vilangudi.
It looks like a giant with its long branches hang in from the tree top.
The tree stands at tile crossing of three roads that lead to other villages. There is a big bole at the bottom of the tree's trunk where a fierce-looking statue with a sickle installed.
This is the guardian deity of the people who live under the banyan tree.
The deity is called Pandy.
