Under the Banyan Tree

Next to the tea shop there is a small flower shop owned by a man called Muthu.

He makes beautiful garlands with jasmine marigold, rose, bishop's button and sweet scented herbs.
He also sells sandal paste, rose water and incense sticks.
The devotees buy the things that Muthu sells for the deity under the banyan tree. They break coconuts at the altar of the deity as an offering. Women buy his flowers for their hair.

Early in the morning farmers from the near-by villages bring guava, palm fruit and cucumber in baskets on their heads to sell in Vilangudi.
