Under the Banyan Tree

Both Anga and Chellam chase the monkeys.
Last year one little monkey stayed while the others left.
Nobody knows just why it stayed back.
As it had no companion of its own kind it became the friend of Kanna, the shepherd boy.
Kanna named it Ramu.
Kanna grazes cattle for Beema.
At sunrise, Kanna blowing his bamboo flute takes the cattle to the meadow.
Kamu joins Kanna when he passes the banyan tree.
It rides on the cattle's backs.
Beema buys bananas and food from the tea shop for Kamu when he returns at sunset.
As Beema has no child of his own, people of Vulangudi say Kamu is Beema's adopted son.
