    Learn Bosnian  grammar: Making comparison

    i) Comparison of adjectives

Most comparatives are formed by the addition of the endings:- ija(f),iji(m),ije(n) to the indefinite adjective.

The superlative is formed by the addition of the prefix - naj to the comparative. Examples:

    poznat poznatiji, poznatija, poznatije najpoznatiji
    famous more famous most famous

    star stariji, starija, starije najstariji
    old older the eldest

    ii) Comparison of adverbs

    Comparison of regular adverbs :

    jako/strong jae/stronger najjae/ strongest
    drago drae najdrae
    teko/heavy tee/heavier najtee/ heaviest

    Comparison of irregular adverbs:

    dobar/good bolji/better najbolji/the best
    velik/big vei/bigger najvei/the biggest
    mnogo/a lot vie/more najvie/the most
    malo/little manje/less najmanje/least
    loe/bad gore/worse najgore/the worst

An adverb is a word giving more information about a verb. In Bosnian an adverb preceedes the verb, unlike in English.

    Examples:
She drives slowly - Ona sporo vozi
They talk quickly - Oni brzo govore
