One: If you're asking "What is Cerebus?", then you probably won't enjoy this.
Two: I don't guarantee enjoyment anyway.
Three: Everything on the site, unless directly quoted, is my opinion. This is simply what I got from the comic. I don't agree with everything Dave says.
Four: I make a lot of references without quoting, look them up in the phone books if you're that interested.
Five: Cerebus is Copyright Dave Sim, all the scans here are for review/plug purposes only.
Six: This is the one and only spoiler warning you'll get; if you read this site thinking it won't reveal much and you'll get up to date on the comic later, you are a sap.

Right.

The reasons I love Cerebus so much, are:

  1. Dave is a good writer, and him and Gerhard are good artists. Never have I seen such breathtaking visuals in a comic, nor in any literature have I seen character development handled so deftly - from Astoria's enlightenment, to Jaka's awakening, and the realisation and struggles of Cerebus himself.

  2. The deep subject matter is at least half of what I've thought about since I was a kid: Power and Freedom. I don't know why I've always been obsessed with these, but I have. These are the things I have been writing about on the rest of my site. Dave values freedom, and (legitimately in my view) sees much power as a threat to it. He sees feminism as the most insidious and recent manifestation of this oppression. I see it as just another ism. In a systemic sort of a way, with the two part split of the 300 issues, Dave reveals power at various levels of human interaction.
