Technology in Cerebus:

Sewers:

"Name will be Scorz, of Scorz, Scorz and sons, Iest, Beduin, Serrea since 1266. Sewage is problem solving - build pipes underground! Away the sewage! Much saving. Easy to install. Reduce to percent smell of fifty!"
- High Society, page 16.

Not exactly medieval.

Large scale Metal working:

Flight pages 94 and 95.

Guns:

Going Home/Form and Void/Issue 254 pages 247 - 250.

Steam engines, Airships:

Going Home/Form and Void/ issue 255, page 467 (Dave mentions steam power in the annotations at the back - just in case you didn't infer it from the lettering).

As Mitch on the Cerebus Egroup pointed out, guns were a vital element of the Ham suicide:

"You can't really talk much about Hemingway's exploits if you replace it with a blowgun or a bow and arrow or something."

Airships also proved to be a part of the Ernestway's story.

Rather than being a vital plot element introduced for the Ernestways, I think technology in Cerebus, like the geopolitics, is necessary background to the whole story.
