Whats happened so far and what do you get from your membership:-
Inter-Medieval
have held three very successful tourney events in Portugal during 2000, 2001 and
2002 supported by representatives from Wales, England, Portugal, Poland, Italy,
France & America.
Building
on these successes, a formal application for international recognition, by the
representative nations has been applied for with the EU in 2001 (encompassing an obligatory
legal - formal infrastructure).
Through
Inter-Medieval (UK); accessing a
variety of EU grants available to qualifying projects can help members organise
fund assisted international events for the benefit of members. EG; The
European Commission for International Youth 15 year to 25 year olds with older leaders,
regularly fund events in and out of UK
(The variety of EU initiatives are too involved
to cover here).
A
few Re-enactors already liase with European Societies for weekend events. Inter-Medieval
is the perfect medium to access a wide range of cheap, safe, tournaments and
Battles throughout Europe.
Is
it going to burden us with yet more Euro-rules and regulations? NO!
Obviously there are already safety weapons and combat guidelines/customs with
every structured UK group. Inter-Medieval
have simply adopted guidelines common to all (mostly conforming to Early Medieval Alliance and
NAReS),
so no change. BUT! You can be sure you wont run into a drunken drug addict
looking to give pain
its members only!
Traders
will access a huge European Medieval Market place. Most UK traders do well in
Europe through Internet Webb sites, but consider the advantages
New
opportunities, new products, new skills, even employment could be available
through Inter-Medieval. Some early
contacts are already yielding results.
What does it
cost?
Nothing at
the moment! However
a small subscription to fund information notices and newsletters by admin
volunteers is being considered now (talking
about 40 Euros (£25.00) per group per year), some
funding will come from various EC grants available for a well supported
international organisation
