August 2000
Yet another new look for this page...it's been inverted. Why?No reason, except
that it closer mirrors the mood of the newer ITN material....
After an intensive creative burst, there's a new CD available, called "Arc", which is
extremely abstract and minimal, for playing loud or quiet, but either way definitely for
listening."Live Invisible Landscapes" and the "Distance" CD,constructed from sounds sent
by top ambient types Austere, are
finally available from the site too."Distance" is also available in the US from Austere themselves.
The realaudio stream has been rather belatedly updated,too-it now features the whole
of the "Invisible Landscapes" live set.
In addition,In the Now has remixed "Fuzzy Jam" into a Bangin' Trance Choon, just for fun. Those of you with an
ear for a snare rush and a big kick drum can hear it at
mp3.com.
June 2000
At last the long overdue June update...In the Now has finally made it back out into the real world
after a lengthy exile in net land, first at the Climax Brighton company launch party on
May 26th, then at Invisible Landscapes on June 7th.
The Climax party was a superb night, with DJ's Subtropic and Sub Zero playing some blinding tunes, and a free bar all night...
(much more than that I can't really remember).Invisible Landscapes was also cool, with an almost entirely new ITN set put together
for a night billed as Electronica/dark ambient/noise.A CD should be available....at some point.Headliners for the night were the wonderful
Pola, playing a goth slanted trip-hop kinda thing with live violins, and opening up were Big Tom,Angel and E23
playing an entirely improvised set of noise guitar, junk metal rhythms, and ambient CD cut-ups!Fill in the spaces with great DJ's playing
awesome ambient soundscapes and you get the picture.
Look out for more live fuzzy Jams soon....
May 2000 update
A date has been confirmed-In The Now will be playing live at Invisible Landscapes
on Wednesday June 7th.Venue-the Lift,11-12 Queens Road,Brighton.More info (like the other bands playing) in this space as it
becomes available.
May 2000
Well summer seems to be arriving here in Brighton!
The ITN site has been overhauled again...the new layout uses Frames, although it will run without frames too.A few teething troubles but it should be running smoothly enough now. Thanks to David,in spite of himself for including ITN on two more of his stations, Surreal Audio (origin)2.0 and Surreal Audio's Analogue Utopia.Same to the creators of The Delta Quadrant.
A couple of live things coming up as well, hopefully. One is a company launch party for the Brighton branch of Climax video games, the other as part of an experimental music night, called Invisible Landscapes,at the Lift,Brighton.Date to be announced.New realaudio stream coming soon...
March 2000
Not much news, except for the addition of In the Now to several mp3.com stations, including the superb top Chill Mix: Down tempo ambient groove, put together by The Opponent Process.I haven't heard the whole playlist yet (it's 75 tracks long!),but what i have heard,rocks...
The other stations to have added ITN to their playlists this month are
The All-Time Top 20(not an official top 20,but the choice of Dan from Lu(c)id),
Amen Breaks of mp3.com,
Kenderpart,and
Surreal Audio 2
One new track going live at mp3.com-"Sunshine Song"
February 2000
The new ITN CD "Smooth Vibe Fuzzy Jams" was completed in January and is now available.Another 4 track CD has also been completed, called "Distance",which was written using original source material from ambient maestros Austere
Two ITN tracks were also chosen by the extremely talented Fingertwister for his new MP3.com radio station Backstabbin' Beats, which needs a mention because of its great concept of featuring exclusively electronic music in non-standard time signatures,ie no 4/4 stuff at all.
New Realaudio playlist:
Sunday Afternoon LoFi melody
Fuzbience
Rain Street
Distance (original source material by Austere)
December 1999
