The twin Hellfire missiles are the primary source of fire
power for the UH-28 Tigerfish. A hellfire is a 100
lb., semi-active laser guided missile, capable of destroying
tanks and military outposts. Because of their power, the
Hellfires are normally reserved for only the most major
tasks.
Hellfires have a range of 5 to 8 kilometres, and two are
fitted in each UH-28 Tigerfish. Additional missiles
can be carried, although this severly limits the capacities
of the helicopter.
The missiles have built in RADAR guidance and can be destroyed
and fired from the cockpit of the Tigerfish. Reloading
of the missiles can only be undertaken when the Tigerfish
is on the ground.
