"Nature" |
English seems to use the word nature in a different way from most other languages.
Here are some examples of acceptable uses of the word:"Nature red in tooth and claw"And here are samples of contexts where we would not use the word:
"Nature study is one of the traditional subjects in primary schools."
"Nature abhors a vacuum"
"It is the nature of lawyers to look for precedents"
"In the nature of things, you can't expect to win every time."
(two of the rare cases where you use "the" in front of the word "nature")"I wish I could paint the scenery of the Lake District!"
"What a fine landscape!"
"It's good to get out of London and into the countryside."
"He paints a very realistic still life."
