"The magazine you ordered is here"
[defined object; we know what we are talking about]

"There are some books on the table"
[undefined; we don't know what books they are]

The second example is a common construction, even when "on the table" is replaced by "here" or "there":
"There's some rubbish here."
"There are several children there."
