Spetses

Spetses is a small island off the eastern coast of the Pelopponese, at the entrance to Argolikós Kólpos (Bay of Argos - incidentally, the word 'kólpos' also means breast or bosom). While we were there, we basically lazed about and soaked up the sun. A number of us did find the energy to travel across the island to the two main beaches, either by bus, boat or foot, and one of the group (mentioning no names, but he's from Texas) hired a bicycle and cycled all the way around the island, not once but twice! Talking of bicycles, there was another 'incident' where Valerie managed to fall off a stationary bicycle - and she hadn't been drinking...

Anyway, I decided to go on the boat trip around the island that was on offer, and these pictures show various 'highlights' of the trip.

Just for the record, this is the boat we used. We were later to use it as a ferry back to the mainland, which was, well, interesting. The fun came when we got hit by a wave, and Jeremy had to scramble over and grab hold of everyone's luggage before it disappeared over the edge. Not that there was any serious danger of that happening...

Our boat!

While we were on the island, we stayed at a hotel in the main town. The room I was in overlooked the pool, as well as providing a view over the rooftops towards the mainland.
