"These  series of paintings were inspired after  a trip to Sri Lanka in 1999 . The paintings started with the sarong sellers who held their many colourful sarongs in the wind and created unknowingly the most beautiful images. The sunsets on the west coast were so impressive it was hard not to resist painting them. The whole country teamed with so much life and colour it moved me to paint even more than I could have imagined. I hope one day to return and be able to explore the unique atmosphere of that very special country." John Dooner.
