At last some light at the end of the tunnel! Deborah Palmer, Team Leader - Community Watch, York police, has contacted me with the news that she will now be coordinating all NW groups in the York and Selby areas. She informs me that whilst she has had 10 years experience with NW Schemes in the York area, she is very much the "new girl" in the Selby area and will be meeting with her colleagues in Selby to ensure that a, quote, "timely and reliable service is offered to all watch groups in the Selby area" We will have to wait and see if she lives up to her promises.
Mobile pollce statlon The police have recently introduced two new initiatives, a Mobile Police Station and a website where residents can register valuable property. The Mobile Police Station is located on the Community Centre car park on a once a week rota. Details of visiting dates and times are on the Village notice board The Mobile Police Station is manned by the Community Liaison PC`s for our area, PC Kevin Kelly and PCSO Dion Wood. The MPS is available for residents of Monk Fryston & Hillam to talk to the police about any concerns they have with regard to such things as antisocial behaviour, vandalism, home security etc. Emergency crime and other reports should be communicated directly to the police on 999 or 0845 6060247. The deployment of MPS's is a welcome move by the police to have closer contact with residents and listen to their concerns.
Property registration website The new website - www.imobilise.com is free for the use of anyone to register property and keep it updated with changes as necessary. The details on the website can only be accessed by the police and the person who registered and will help in getting back lost or stolen property. The website is seen as an addition to the Smartwater initiative with the added advantage that it is free and can readily be updated.
