DOCTOR OCTOPUS

Base; Toad head (movie two pack, comicbook version), M2 body

Other parts; Cyclops gloves, Electro shoes, arms from a 12" Doc Ock

Time to sew a fat suit.

But first, the head... the Toad head was waaaaay too big, so I used acetone/nail-polish remover to shrink it. Make sure the remover isn't dilute (e.g. Aqua or Water on the 'contents' label). I left the head in a small, sealed glass jar of acetone for 24 hours (it'll swell up to about 12" scale!) then took it out and left it for 5 days to shrink down again, the plastic getting much harder in the process.

To fix it on the neck, I carved out the underside of the head so that it sat on the actual neck rather than just the post, filled the head with milliput, jammed it down onto the body and kept moving it every now and again while it set (so it didn't set locked in one postion). More millput was used for the glasses and a couple of strands of hair.

Removed the bendy tentacles from a 12" Ock, carved some holes into the figure's back big enought to just hold these.

Trimmed about 1.5cms off his lower legs to add to the general squattness of the figure, worked out a pattern for a fat suit and sewed away. First time lucky too. Made a little pouch and filled that with cotton wool for Ock's (over-fat) paunch. Once the suit on was on, cut little slits in the back over the holes and jammed the tentacles in.

Finally, his boots and gloves... this will probably end up either purple or orange, but for now yellow will do nicely.
