Boiling Water vs. the Hair Dryer

Below is detailed my boiling water method of removing FC parts. Many people use a hair-dryer. I often do too - 'tis a hell of a lot safer - but I'm often 'assembling' 3 or 4 FCs at a time and in this situation the water method is quicker (especially if you boil your water in the microwave). Beware though hot water seeping into figures and seeping out again while you're pulling bits off! And Mr Numbskull here even tried popping off a de-rooted head in boiling water... and 'cussed his head off when he squeezed the head and all the water shot out through the hair holes! B*gg*r.

Anyway, remember, boiling water is DANGEROUS kids. All the usual adult supervision, don't screw around etc. warnings are in order.

IMPORTANT; If you're using a rooted hair figure, make sure the burners on the oven are turned off as the heat from them will melt the hair in the blinking of an eye!

Removing Head, hands & feet

Items required...

Pan of water, FC & velcro offcut.

Use the velcro (salvaged from another FC outfit) to guard against any snags while stripping your chosen FC

Boil water. Dunk the FC's head 'til the vinyl becomes nice and soft. The head should then be pretty easy to ease off the peg (you'll have to heat it again to get the underside properly soft before swapping it onto a new body).

Note the position of the FC's hands (left); they'll melt if they hit the sides of the pan (in which case you'll suddenly find those FC toxic clear-up gloves are very useful; they can hide many a sin!

Time now for the hands. Dunk the figure again, getting the hands and forearms under the water. After a few seconds the forearm plastic should be soft enough to let you pop the whole wrist section out. If not, dunk again for a while longer.

Once the hands are off you can turn your attention to the feet (if necessary). Same process as the hands.

And to get head, hands and feet back on, just repeat the process, pushing instead of pulling!
