Spiderwoman into Phoenix. pt 2 |
Using my Patterns |
These are very simple patterns to match my sewing skills. Starting with the legs... Take a piece of lycra over twice the width of the leg pattern. Select which side you want on the outside (most lycra's have a shiny & a dull side). Fold the material over so the chosen side is on the inside. Pin closed... |
... you may prefer to pin the pattern onto the material too and cut out around that. Probably advisable for your first few costumes. But now I just hold the leg pattern down on the material, with the straight edge against the fold, and lightly draw around with a fine permanent marker. |
Cut. DO NOT cut down the fold; what you want to end up with is one piece of material folded in half. Repeat again for the other leg. |
And now for the top. Again much the same as the leg. This time you'll want a piece of material twice the 'height' of the body section. Fold over & pin. |
Lay or pin the pattern onto the material with the arms along the fold. If you're not pinning, draw around the material |
Cut. And again DO NOT cut along the fold. When finished you should have three sections ready for sewing. |
