Time to finish Jean's collar; time to work on another pattern. Plan it out on a piece of paper and keep testing it out on the figure until you reckon it looks about right.... then it's time to transfer it onto some black lycra. Double-sided adhesive again; back the lycra with it, stick pattern on, draw around & cut out... |
... then lightly position onto the figure and once you're happy with the placement stick into place. Gloves and boots now; the cutting and sewing is the same as with the rest of the costume. You can leave the bottom on the boots open for now. |

Again I left out the hemming as this sparkly gold lycra is pretty thick and cuffs etc. would spoil the sleek lines of the Phoenix Once the boot & glove sleeves are on I replaced her hands and feet (hairdryer again to soften the plastic) and sewed the bottom of the boots closed. |

Time to paint her Phoenix symbol; first a layer of white acrylic. Leave to dry. Then yellow acrylic. Dry. Then a couple of coats of metallic paint. To round her costume of, I added a gold sash (gold lycra strip, double-sided adhesive running it's length ... |
...and half the height, length of wire along the top of the adhesive and then fold the lycra over making a sandwich of it, trimming it up where needed to tidy it up) and a clasp cut from plasticard. Then a little bit of hair gel just to tame her fringe... and one Phoenix was complete :) |
