The Boeing Vertol CH 47 Chinook, is a medium transport/assault helicopter.  The Chinook first entered service with the United States Army in 1962, and proved of great value in the Vietnam War.  Large numbers of several variants of  the Chinook have been built under licence by Elicotteri Meridionali in Italy most of which have been exported.  Apart from the US, all the following countries operate the Chinook, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Egypt, Greece, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Spain, Tanzania, Thailand, UK.

The Westland Sea King, is a multi-role and ASW helicopter.  It is a British built version of the Sikorsky S 61 helicopter.  Westland have exported the Sea King to at least eight countries.  The Sea King is used by both The Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy in the Search and Rescue role.   The crews are highly trained and have performed rescues under the most demanding conditions.

The Sikorsky S-58 and Westland Wessex have seen extensive service world-wide since their introduction in the late 1950's.  Aircraft from 22 squadron of the Royal Airforce were often a very welcome sight for those in trouble in the mountains of Wales. The Sikorsky S-70 Black Hawk range is produced in multirole utility transport, Comint and jamming, Combat and Search and Rescue versions.  It is designed to operate in all conditions with the minimum of maintenance.

The Mil Mi 28 (Havoc) Combat helicopter is pictured here at the 1989 Paris Airshow, this was the first occasion that this helicopter was seen in the West.  The Mil Mi 8/14/17 "Hip" "Haze" "Hurrah" series of helicopters are all variations of basically the same airframe.  It serves at least forty of the worlds Airforces in numerious roles.

The Aérospatiale Westland Gazelle has proved to be a useful and popular light battlefield helicopter, and trainer.. The Aérospatiale Westland Lynx has been produced in numerous Army and Naval versions.  It is among the fastest helicopters ever produced.

This version of the Aérospatiale SA 365 Dauphin is in service with the US Coast Guard as a short-range recovery helicopter. The MBB BO 105 helicopter is a product of the German aviation industry.  It first flew in 1997 and has been a great export success.
