COMMODORES NEWSLETTER MAY 2001
Annual General Meeting
| I would like to thank members for their attendance at the Annual General Meeting on 30th March and for their support for the Club Casino Night in aid of the RNLI on 31st March. At the AGM both Nichola and Ron Lane were thanked for the major contributioin they had made to the General Committee during their many years of service and Adrian Johnson was welcomed back to the General Committee following his election. |
Sailing
| The RDYC 2001 Sailing Programme was forwarded to the
members with the revised notice of the AGM. In the rush
to get the Programme out with the notice there was not a
lot of time to check the Fleet List and I am afraid there
were some errors for which I apologise. I enclose a
revised Fleet List. If the details of your vessel are
incorrectly shown on the revised list please let the
Cliub Secetary, Maxine Tye, know. We have 78 yachts and
31 power boats on the new list. I would like to draw members attention to the fact that for all RDYC Races this year we will be using the new 2001 Starting Procedure which is:- |

Planning Permission
| Following publication of the planning application to
build 15 apartments at the former Weymouth Sailing Centre
at Old Castle Road the club has made representation to Mr
Richard Burgess, the Director of Environment Services,
that the planning application was not in accordance with
the town plan and could restrict access to our moorings. We have also written to the Crown Estates to express an interest in leasing the hard standing in front of the former Weymouth Sailing Centre, as the hard standing is owned by the Crown Estates. |
H2O Show
| The Club shared a Stand with the Weymouth Sailing Cluub and Castle Cove Sailing Club at last weeks Portland H2O Show. The cost of the stand was paid for by Yacht Clubs of Weymouth and following that show we are hopeful that the RDYC will have at least one new Club member. My thanks to those members of the club who helped set up the stand and man it duriung the Show. |
Pathfinder Power Boat Club
| The Pathfinder Power Boat Club will be visiting the RDYC on 7th July and invite power boat members of the RDYC to meet them in the Bar. |
Vice Commodore
| Finally I would like to record my thanks to our newly elected Vice Commodore, David Caddy, who has been looking out for me whilst I have been away sailing as Relief Master in the Jubilee Sailing Trust's Barque LORD NELSON.( During my time in command of the LORD NELSON I did manage to pay a short visit to Weymouth and several of the voyage crew visited the club.) |
