Redhill & Reigate was started in 1997 by a group of like-minded people who wanted to improve their communication skills and learn more about public speaking in a friendly and supportive environment. Many of the original members are still around, and some have gone on to represent the club in both regional and national speaking competitions. They now help the new members to develop their skills, just as they were helped themselves in the early days of the club.

The club has continued to attract new members, some of whom have been very active on the committee and contributed to winning team speaking events against other local clubs.

But it is not all about competitions. Education remains the primary aim of the club: all members, however experienced, still continue to learn about how to improve their speaking skills.
