Association of Speakers Clubs
The Association of Speakers Clubs (ASC) is a national grouping of approximately 200 clubs, with nearly 3000 members.
The Association of Speakers Clubs is a non-profit making organisation dedicated to helping its members to achieve their speaking goals. Members use a training manual (The Speakers Guide) that features positive feedback and encouragement amongst its development strategies.
Our members come from many walks of life and range from novices to experienced speakers.
It was founded in 1972 as a result of a decision by some clubs to leave the jurisdiction of Toastmasters International and form their own organisation.
Administratively, the association is divided into 8 Districts, with each District further subdivided into 2-6 Areas.
Each Area has between 2 and 10 member clubs. We are contained within the South Area which covers an area south of London to the coast, including the North and South Downs.
Administration - National
The association is run by a National Executive Council ( NEC ), which is chaired by the National President.
S/He is supported by a National Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-President, as well as a National Education Officer and National Development Officer, who chair the Education and Development Committees.
Each District also has its own President, who is also a member of the NEC.
The Association publishes its own house magazine - The Speaker - 4 times a year, and this is posted to members.
