March 18, 2002 To MrX with an unobtainable e-mail address: Thank you very much for the e-text of Mikhail Bulgakov's "Master and Margarita" in English, but, unfortunately, I cannot publish it on the net because it is not Public Domain or defined by a unique copiright situation. It has been published outside of Russia (in England) by a British publishing house, translated by an English translator and subject to the British copyright law. Though the author of the original novel died in 1940, in this case the copyright owner is either the translator or publishing house. The translation was performed in the 60's. In Britain it is usually 70 years after the death of an author when one might talk about Public Domain. In Russia this period is 50 years...
Btw, this is one of popular books in Britain and two translations are available in most big bookshops. I prefer the translation of 1997, made by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky.
March 17, 2002 MORE Books Translated section - uploaded the third part of the trilogy " The Old Fortress", now the whole trilogy is available. It is amazing how "political" the third part is, all those "traitors, conspirators, enemies of the people", typical Stalinist paranoia of those years.
Uploaded "Tsar Saltan" by Alexander Pushkin, translated by Louis Zelikoff. A big HTML file, pictures.
March 16, 2002 At long last I put a guestbook on the site... The visitors kept wondering why I was ignoring it for so long. It seems my provider doesn't support some scripts and the so-called "free" hosted guestbooks made so much extra-marketing. I found a no-banners guestbook host on a Russian server in St.Peterburg. So far so good...
February 8, 2002 Please, have a look at my new MORE Books Translated section.
November 1, 2001 To my regret I have to discontinue the Radio Plays section for a while. BUT: the link to Russian Children's Plays is still working...
